Introduction to the AR Platform

Introduction to the AR Platform class is exactly that! It was designed for those that are new to the AR platform or may be considering the purchase of one.  It is a great pre-course for Practical Rifle / Carbine I & II. There is also a related course about building your own custom unit.

The course starts with the history and design of the rifle and continues with the break down and maintenance of the mil.spec models. We will discuss the applications of various models including,

barrel lengths, caliber, stocks,  hand guards, sights and optics. We will discuss the use of flash suppressors, muzzle brakes and full suppression.  Students will assemble and disassemble  the basic firearm and learn to install practical accessories including lights, lasers and bi-pods. We will discuss  defensive applications and adjustments for different field conditions.  Students will learn the basic functions of the AR and clearing malfunctions.  There is a section of instruction at the range and opportunity for each student to sight in his or her unit with optics or hard sights .

Range time will include targets at different distances and sight adjustments for different applications.
