Descriptions of each class type are included below.
Advanced Pistol Classes
Advanced Pistol Skills Development I
This course was developed to take the student from the basics of pistol knowledge to the use and understanding using theory and application with the handgun. APSD I is the first in a series of 3 classes that are designed to build student skills and confidence with his or her handgun. The subject matter deals with the shooter as well as the pistol. There is a focus on the firearm-shooter relationship and the fine tuning of each for a specific purpose. Purpose and application are very important to a critical event. We will discuss each in detail and consider student response and equipment for those applications. We will cover ammunition application and specifics of each application. There is serious consideration of carry methods and types of holsters for different purpose. We will begin to introduce “tactical” theories and movement to respond to different situations. We will begin to explore the “what if” scenarios for survival. There is a discussion on “trauma after the event”. It is just as important to understand mental trauma as it is to prepare for the physical event.
Requirements for the class: This is not a beginner’s class! Students should have had the basic course or have the equivalent in past experience.
Students should bring a pistol, holster, 2+ magazines for the pistol, mag holders and 250 rounds of ammo. If you use a revolver, consider speed loaders and holders. Eye protection, ear protection, long sleeve shirt, billed cap and a sack lunch.
We recommend that students bring the firearm that they carry or intend to carry. Holster should be outside the pant type. (Kydex type preferred)
Concealed Carry Development techniques are covered in another course title.
